IIP 167: Product Pod Fee Split Removal

Author: @afromac
Reviewed: @allan.g @JosephKnecht

Simple Summary

Earlier proposals for launched and pending products contained a clause to distribute a portion of the streaming fee to the Product Pod. This proposal reverses that aspect of the previous proposals.

Additionally, no such streaming fee has been distributed to the Product Pod and this post serves as notice of such to the community.

Motivation

Earlier product proposals by the Product Pod (including IIPs 135, 136, 137, 144 & 145) included a clause to distribute up to 10% of the streaming fee to contributors who had contributed to designing the product. This fee structure was created to incentivize the creation of in-house methodologies and product designs. In the time since, the Product Pod has not received this additional revenue, and the incentive design of Index Coop is being revised. As such these clauses are now redundant, and this Proposal removes that aspect of the previous proposals.

Specification

No streaming fee will be distributed to the Product Pod for the following launched or potential products:

  • FIXED
  • MNY (aka BASIS-ETH)
  • LAYER1
  • LAYER2

Voting

FOR:

DO reverse the decision to distribute 10% of the streaming fees for the above products to the Product Pod.

AGAINST:

DO NOT reverse the decision to distribute 10% of the streaming fees for the above products to the Product Pod.

Great proposal @afromac.

I am in full support of 100% of revenue generated from internally developed products going to the DAO and not a subset of the DAO. This aligns incentives across the community.
