AWG May Progress Report

Author: @jdcook (AWG Leader)

May was the second month of existence for the Analytics Working Group (AWG). This post serves as a “progress report” for the working group. The AWG uses a GitHub repository as the home for all project, request, and code management. Feel free to view the project board to see what the AWG is up to at any time!

Learnings

The AWG’s approach up to this point has been to take requests from other working group leads and participate in conversations/meetings across the Coop in order to best prioritize Analytics work. As mentioned in the previous monthly report, the goal for the AWG is to scale up the number of contributors and the contribution process to efficiently support the whole Coop. The AWG has made significant strides over the month of May towards this goal. While, it is still yet to be determined if contributors will take ownership over specific functional areas, we are now in a place where we can start experimenting with a multi-contributor AWG.

These are the contributors that have been onboarded in the past month (discord names) along with the initial projects / tasks they have been working on:

@jackiepoo (Treasury)

@Deep (Uniswap v3)

@gosuto (ETH2x-FLI Dashboard)

@loren_huang (NAVs vs Market Prices)

@rudall (Growth KPIs)

@tutnyce (Governance)

@DOC (Content / Growth)

@aehrenberg (Growth / Product)

This means that the month of June will be all about how to efficiently manage all of the potential analytics work across the Coop. The AWG wants to get better at taking on both long-term projects and short-term ad-hoc requests that could help sharpen thinking or drive strategic decision making. We will be working on improving our intake processes from all functional areas of the Coop to make sure we are always on top of needs. From there, we will prioritize and assign based on bandwidth and interest.

Building analytics for any type of organization in an “open-source” fashion is not super common, so we are focused on building the right processes so this can scale as the Coop grows. We have set up an Index Coop Analytics repo along with contributor documentation and processes (a bit light at the moment) in order to facilitate contributions, reviews, and code management. This will be an ongoing, iterative process, but I believe we are at the forefront of DAO analytics with the way we are going.
