Fresh Owlpha, curated daily. This is @HOWweDAO . (previous issue)
The day got started with the weekly Gov Ops meeting and then passed things over to the WIC WG, who hosted a lightning-quick speed networking event. Next, the folks in Design wrapped up WG meetings for Thursday at the Coop. @Crypto_Texan closed out the day with an in-depth chat with Bankless founder, David Hoffman in this week’s Conversations with the Coop.
Tomorrow, the 2nd installment of ‘Fridays with the Coop’ goes live over on the Twitter Spaces. So be sure to grab your favorite Friday beverage and hang out with your fellow Owls.
No newsletter on Fridays, so if we don’t hear you tomorrow on Spaces, have a wonderful weekend and see you at Monday’s Weekly Standup

Voting Takes Centerstage with Wise Owls & Metagovernance
Governance Operations WG Meeting (10 attendees) notion
@Lavi Nominations are finalized for the MetaGovernance committee elections, and the nominees’ bios are now live on a forum post. There are two available positions for three nominees (Penn Blockchain via @yuan-han-li, @oneski22 & @sixtykeys), and if elected, each will serve a 6-month term. Polling opens: 22 November 1800 UTC; Polling closes 25 November 1800 UTC
Governance ops continue to work on their roles and rewards framework to develop clearly defined descriptions and move from a fixed stipend to pay per deliverable structure. The next steps are laying this out in a written post by @lavi and reviewed by @mel.eth and @sixtykeys. Input and help from @Mringz have been much appreciated during this process.
Gov Ops reached out to @jdcook @anthonyb.eth and the Analytics team to help calculate the supply of $INDEX. Circulating supply determines the threshold for a voting quorum, and currently, there’s a discrepancy between the data from CoinGecko & our Analytics team’s calculations (~350k $INDEX).
Determining what’s vested and considered votable supply was debated as the difference in numbers is due to specific wallet addresses being removed. Further discussions will be held to explore further and determine the appropriate circulating supply number.
@mel.eth and @oneski22 have been proactive tracked down three open-ended IIPs. Instead of letting them hang out there unresolved, the plan is to pull them together and propose a cleanup IIP to close the loop. If this fails, they will adjust their approach. Experimenting with an ‘abstain’ voting option via Snapshot was discussed, along with
how many reruns does an IIP get if no quorum? @afromac sought some guidance and information around the fast-tracking of similar products on different layers, FLI products. @mel.eth provided some context and will share details of the process with him directly.
With the upcoming nomination/election of Wise Owls, @Pepperoni_Joe popped by Gov Ops to praise the crew on a job well done so far and discuss future opportunities and needs from Index Coop. Gov Ops will conduct fair and open elections and play a more prominent role moving forward.
@Pepperoni_Joe had previously “owned” many of these tasks and is happy to transfer this responsibility over to Gov Ops. So Gov Ops will set up a callup to walk through ChoiceVoting.co.uk and other key learnings.
Gov Ops will also be a resource to help Nests experiment when determining their representation and decision-making within the Nest. While it needs to be broadly aligned with the value of the Coop, there can be some variation from Nest to Nest. @mel.eth brought up the pros/cons of a “transparent in real-time” voting system (like we use with Snapshot) vs. something that’s transparent but doesn’t bias the undecided voter.
@mel.eth brought up the vote-buying on Paladin and will be the subject of a future conversation.
I Feel the Need, the Need for Speed…Networking
Women + NB of Index WG (15 attendees)
The WIC continued its efforts as a newish WG to get to know the Index Coop community and fellow contributors. A rapid-fire speed networking event flew by but not before many valuable conversations and meaningful connections were made.*
@Lfeld pulled together the people and technology today to set up one on one meetups (sometimes a party of 3) via Meetaway. Each round was 6 minutes to quickly meet and get to know another member of Index Coop.
While each of these sessions few by, it was nice to put a Discord @handle to a face and hear stories about falling down the crypto rabbit hole, how they found Index Coop and how everyone would like to contribute to the greater community.
If you missed out on this event, don’t fret. Women + NB of Index WG are lining up more internal and external events to foster closer bonds amongst members and spread the good word of Index Coop to the great DAO ecosystem.
Wen New Index Coop Website?
Design WG (10 attendees) slides
The team working on redesigning the marketing portion of the website is nearing the finish line. Several other working groups are ready to start sending traffic and create additional content to be housed on the IC’s freshly painted home on the website. It sounds like any day now for the marketing portion of the website to be followed up by the updated app portion later. The test site is live at beta.indexcoop.com
@Static121 led proceedings today and noted that new blog banner templates will be ready to go, along with the new website anytime now. Video pod has completed the first cut of the community highlight video. Storyboarding is complete, and production has begun on the 'What Is Index?" video. @seblavoie has been working on five cuts of the animated Index Coop logo video, while @Static121 creates the sound logo.
There was some question from @mestigoit about better ways to visualize where a product is in the pipeline so designers can estimate wherein the process they might be asked to jump in. I recommended they reach out to @DocHabanero @afromac and @Mringz to gain access to their notion or attend their meetings to get an idea of where future products are in the pipeline.
