The sCoop - Contributor Newsletter - 2021.12.08 Wednesday

Fresh Owlpha, curated daily. This is @HOWweDAO . (previous issue)

Extra! Extra! Read All About It! There was no shortage of recent write-ups and media mentions about the Index Cooperative including: Blockworks, Decrypt & The Verge.

BD WG shared the good news of closed deals and grabbed headlines. Today’s Leadership Forum recipe for success was 4 cloves of garlic, two parts Lego building blocks followed by a pinch of @LemonadeAlpha :hot_pepper: and staking $INDEX at High APY for at least 6 months. People Nest held their nest launch party with an interactive quiz and workshop. A fun, chaotic getting-to-know-you session activated and inspired the team. Women + NB of Index wrapped up the day with a well attended Twitter Spaces session (~80 people) How to DAO 101 AMA.

Tomorrow is a day of non-stop action starting with Gov Ops WG followed by Women + NB of Index & BD Office Hours sharing a time slot. Fledgling Owls and others new to Index Cooperative will be hitting up the New Joiner Call at noon Eastern/5 pm UTC.

Do The Ditty If You Want To

Business Development (23 attendees) notion | BDWG Dune by @anthonyb.eth
@Miza went into full-on Paperboy-mode and singing his “Ditty” about the positive ink that dropped recently about the Index Coop. Word on the street is that a Bloomberg feature for Index Coop is in the works. No matter if NGU or we’re making headlines, we’ve got work to do and will keep moving forward towards our objectives.

@Mringz provided a solid update about DeFi partnerships and integrations. One of the current focuses is to build a better relationship and collaboration with @MrMadila and the growth team. By improving together, we’ll be better able to highlight opportunities in our ecosystemProducttract new customers. Recent protocol partners include Vesper, Beta Finance, LongLong Finance, Dopex. Recently, @asira made contact in Discord with the Alchemix folks. He and Michael plan on attending their fireside chat this Friday at noon UTC.

And he’s looking to build more campaigns and content around these relationships. A bounty board will be created for this purpose. The @coopgrowth Twitter account has been made to shine a light on these opportunities and strategies that we offer.

ETH2x-FLI on Polygon launches soon. So be sure to stay tuned to Discord and get ready to smash those Reply/RT buttons a lot.

@anthonyb.eth went through how they’re tracking and analyzing partnership and integration data. How many new vs. established customers are jumping in, etc. Check them out on Dune Analytics.

Potential methodologists are lining up to work with us and we’ve got several exciting opportunities coming out soon, including Ribbon Finance and L2Beat.

Leadership Forum (30 attendees) slides
How long ago was that Index Council election? The vibe of the meeting has shifted from community conversations about decision making, leadership, and the future of the Index Coop…to one where we face challenges and explore opportunities that lay in front of us.

@caf & @overanalyser laid out the plans of a recently revealed vampire attack by Enso. The attack is focused on six projects: Index Coop, Set Protocol, PieDAO, dHedge, Powerpool, and Indexed. Our response strategy will focus on highlighting Index Coop’s strengths: sustainability, reliability, professionalism. We will stay united as a community and not spread bad news or misinformation about this protocol. This is a learning opportunity for the DAO and highlights the need for a better flow of information moving forward and a clear, timely communications strategy when these situations arise.

@afromac went in deep about the Automated Indicies product pipeline and strategies for 2022. They are thinking about: How can we launch faster?; How can we build more sophisticated products? & How can we expand beyond thematic indices? At a high level, how can Index Coop leverage challenges already solved by other protocols and stick these LEGOS together with ours. Ribbon Finance is a perfect example of this by providing exposure to all Ribbon Vaults through a single token.

@Pepperoni_Joe wrapped up proceedings by bringing revisions to the Community Ownership & Compensation proposal. Specifics regarding airdrops, the dynamic staking model with a 6-month vest, priority hiring were discussed in great detail. A post is live in the forum for you to dig into the details.

People (Nest) Everyday

People.Nest Launch Party (30 attendees)
It’s officially Nest Season at Index Coop. Today, People.Nest held their initial kick-off with all WGs and Pods gathered round. This interactive session combined group learning and bonding while fostering a bit of self-reflection and motivation.

@bradwmorris (aka BEERadely) kicked off the meeting by hosting a fun game of"Lie 'Bout Your Bags - 2 Truths & 1 Lie." @chasechapman got out to an early lead, correctly answering 8 out of the first 9. Obvious bluffing about holding stablecoins let a particular sCoop writer back into the mix, and he would go on to get the W.

@Lfeld provided a thorough overview of WIC’s founding and their current objectives and efforts. They are helping the create a more open and inclusive culture at Index Coop. Along with that, WIC’s objectives are to recruit more diverse contributors and nurture them on their path within the DAO.

@Pepperoni_Joe invited us to lay back on the chaise longue, discover our personality traits, consider our communication styles, and along with @StepvhenH ponder our current/future roles within the community. Break-out sessions also provided an opportunity to discuss future objectives and the direction for People.Nest. Thanks to @0xMitz, the topic of creating and sustaining a community outside of contributors (aka Bogleheads, Ohmies, Owlheads) was something that resonated in both groups.

Daily DAOwlpha: There are common misconceptions that DAO’s are fully decentralised, autonomous in structure and leaderless. Centralisation, structure and leadership are all essential. The key difference = they should be community driven, ground up, using collaborative environments like these. - @BΞeradley
